FEATURES Port logistics issues contributing to the globalization of manufacturing.

It is said that drastic Yen hike in the late 80’s forced Japanese manufacturers in fear of profit reduction to accelerate their transplanting in East Asia where they could take advantage of abundant and cheap workforce. At the time, about ten years had
passed ever since “containerization” and the new method started to get under way.
This article introduces the rapid globalization of Japanese manufacturers in
conjunction with containerization.
