FEATURES challenges against the global warming
~ adaptability measures at ports And harbors ~

According to the fourth Assessment Report released on 17 November 2007 by Inter-Governmental Panel on Climate Change(IPCC),various climate changes such as rising sea levels, stronger tropical cyclones, and so on due to the global warming are foreseen, even if we maintain the current measures to alleviate the climate changes.
The report states the significance not only of "alleviation measures" which intends to reduce greenhouse gas causing the global warming but also of "adaptability measures"which intends to lighten the bad influence by the climate changes like the sea level rising.
The feature of this month spotlights the "adaptability measures" taken in port and harborareas.
