FEATURES 〜The rebirth of seashore; what to do and what has been done for the sake of protection of seashore〜

Measures taken to stop the erosion of seashore are very significant not only in terms of disaster prevention but in terms of territorial protection. In addition, rebirthing eroded seashore will have a favorable impacts on the maintenance and improvement of beach environments and even on the creation of beach utilization.
The feature of this month introduces some examples of efforts on the rebirth of seashore. Also, it introduces the technology development of sand-bypass construction being implemented by Port and Airport Research Institute and the instances of beach rebirth which utiliges material from works concerned.
