FEATURES 〜 disaster prevention against tsunami and storm surge 〜
 It was after an interval of fifty years that tsunami caused by the great earthquake in Chili reached Japanese coastal area, this February. Fortunately, casualties and damages to public facilities were limited, but the incident reminded us of the significance of readiness for future tsunami and storm surge.
 The feature of this month shows the reality of the Chili earthquake damages, introduces some measures to reduce the damages, and leads you to think of the right direction of disaster prevention against tsunami and storm surge .
