FEATURES 〜 Recent topics on ports and harbors at international organizations/conferences 〜
The world economy and trade are being multipolarized by the progress of regionalism such as the establishment and development of EU, NAFTA, MERCOSUR, and TPP instead of concentrating in the USA.
And China is surely overtaking Japan as Second-Largest Economy and the relative status of Japan's economy is being lowered by rapidly growing countries such as China and Brazil.
Under these circumstances, therefore, our consideration on how to enhance international competitiveness of Japanese ports or on how to proceed their cooperation with overseas ports should be important to help foster our country itself.
The feature of this month is taking up some international conferences/organizations related to ports and harbors, showing some topics discussed there, in order to find out the right direction of ports in our country.
