Japan
with its limited resources import almost all of bulk cargoes
such as resources by so-called
“bulker”, large vessel designed for bulk cargoes.
Bulk cargoes such as energy, grain and so
on are indispensable to our daily lives and economic
activities.
There are more and more demands for the resources by
worldwide population increase and rapid economic growth by
rising countries such as China
and India.
As a result, competition for
securing resources are
getting harder globally.
Under the circumstances, various countries try to
secure voluminous resources by
large bulker.
To cope with the tendency,
Japan
obviously needs to build up logistics
environments
for the sake of importing resources stably at low cost.
Lately, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure,
Transport and Tourism(MLIT) selected “International
Strategic Bulk Ports” as key ports for bulk cargo import.
MLIT will surely concentrate on their investments and
measurements on the selected ports so as to build up the
competitive logistics networks against the rest of the
world.
The feature of this month introduces some of the
selected ones with their plans.
